Abstract
The current collective imaginary, specially reflected by cinema, shows a deep transformation of humanity’s features. Rationality has been displaced by other aspects which had traditionaly been relegated to the irrational, to the animal domain, to the corporal, as it is the case of emotive nature, the desire, passions. Science fiction and cinema perfectly express such a change of direction but they are not its only manifestations. Together with some examples from cinema, this paper puts forward others derived from modern philosophy and literature, and from the contemporary social cruelty —genocide, colonialism—, as well as some notes from the fields of scientific neurology and artificial intelligence.
